ONSET Ventures Adds New Venture Associate with Extensive Enterprise-class Software Experience:

MENLO PARK, CALIF., October 8, 2003 — ONSET Ventures today announced that Ben Wu has joined the firm as a venture associate after 10 years of operating roles in enterprise-class software companies.

"Ben has a wealth of experience in one of the sweet spots of our focus as a firm and brings with him not just business building skills, but a network of industry contacts that will benefit our young portfolio companies,” said Mark Hilderbrand, ONSET Ventures’ general partner leading investments in the enterprise applications and information technology infrastructure sector.

Most recently, Wu held senior management positions in product management and marketing at E.piphany, where he led the product management effort for the firm’s campaign management application and spearheaded several new product initiatives in E.piphany’s sales and marketing product lines.

"I love the energy, passion and optimism of early stage companies, which is ONSET Ventures’ primary focus,” said Wu. “I am also pleased to join a venture capital firm that has never wavered in its enthusiasm for enterprise-class software investments during a time when others turned away in favor of more transient opportunities. Joining ONSET Ventures gives me a change to leverage my operational background and be part of the action in an industry sector I believe in."

Prior to E.piphany, Wu was an early employee and director of product management at Affinia, a venture-backed company that created the Internet’s first contextual merchandising platform. Earlier in his career he worked in product management at Adobe and also held engineering management and software development positions at Decision Architects, A Monitor Group company.

Wu has an MBA and a B.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University. While at Stanford Business School, he was an active volunteer at Start Up, a non-profit organization assisting entrepreneurs and small business owners in underprivileged communities. As an undergraduate he was an elected member of Phi Beta Kappa.
